Welcome to Kindergarten at St. Jane de Chantal School!
Kindergarten is a wonderful place to learn how to pray, read, write, count, and all about the world around us! Happy Easter! I hope everyone has a blessed and relaxing Easter break with their families and loved ones. See you back April 8th for the eclipse!
Our Week at a Glance
Religion: This week we read from the Bible about Easter. We recite the sorrowful mysteries and prepare our hearts and minds for this important week in the Catholic faith!
Reading: This week we review all letters learned so far, take a Superkids test on the letters M and N, and continue our small group reading. We will discuss setting, sequence, and plot in different fiction and non-fiction texts. We will also learn about synonyms.
Math: This week we continue our chapter on money learning about the quarter, nickel, penny, and dime. We count coins together and determine which coins one would need to pay for an item. Practice sorting coins at home!
Language Arts: This week we focus on the memory words: are, and, the, is, see, a, I, no, have, of, for as we begin to write our own sentences phonetically. We learn a new memory word: look. We write in our journals about Easter, and use whiteboards to practice writing numbers and the letters using D'Nealian handwriting. We read many books about Vets. We also read the online interactive Supersmart book and we read the Superkids library book.
Science/ Social Studies: This week we discuss Easter! We will make Easter crafts, tell the story of Easter with Resurrection eggs, and play some Easter games. This is a short week too!
