Welcome to Kindergarten at St. Jane de Chantal School!

Kindergarten is a wonderful place to learn how to pray, read, write, count, and all about the world around us! Read on to see what we are learning about this week.

Our Week at a Glance

Religion: This week we go to mass with our 8th grade buddies, finish up the Virtus safety training for children and read stories from the Bible that teach us the importance of trusting in God.

Reading: This week we meet Doc who loves to fix broken toys and invent new ones. We will learn the sound D makes, how to write upper and lowercase Dd as well as blending sounds to make words using C, O, G, A, and D. We will learn about women inventors and women who changed the world with their great ideas.

Math: This week we continue with chapter 3 on positions. We learn the vocabulary: inside, outside, above, below, between, left, right, etc. We practice position words by following simple directions and using position bear.

Language Arts: This week we focus on red words: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple. We review these learned words and make flashcards for the first time with our newly learned "decodable" words. We continue to read in small groups the Superkid library books and practice D'Nealian handwriting.

Science/ Social Studies:  This week we begin our unit on Halloween. We will discuss this spooky holiday and do many crats related to Halloween: skeletons, witches, monsters, ghosts and more! We will decorate our classroom, tell spooky stories, and enjoy the holiday!
